Egypt’s annual headline inflation registers 4.6% in March
CPI for March registered 105.8 points

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt's annual headline inflation rose by 0.6% month-on-month in March, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) announced on Thursday.

The consumer price index (CPI) for March registered 105.8 points, compared to 105.2 points in February, data showed.

The rise in inflation rate was ascribed to an increase in prices of fruits, meat and poultry, fish and seafood, grains and bread, tobacco, and outpatient clinic services by 3.7%, 2.4%, 1.6%, 0.5%, 5.4%, and 0.7%, respectively.

On the other hand, prices of milk, cheese, and eggs retreated by 0.8%, while vegetable prices fell by 0.7%.

Year-on-year, the country’s annual headline inflation rate registered 4.6% in March, compared to 13.8% in the same month a year earlier.
